The power of colour and pattern
In the latest Elle Decoration UK editor Ben Spriggs reflects on the life-affirming and empowering effects of bringing colour and pattern into interiors, and we are delighted to hear that 2022 is set to be a year of decorative experimentation.
The April issue of Elle Decoration also features Matthew Williamson’s renovation of his London home which includes our Betty cabinet and Sunburst drinks cabinet, both of which Matthew selected to have within his home.
Taking readers on an inspiring design journey celebrating his bold personality, Matthew summarised his recent refurbishment as "buying new earrings for an old dress", highlighting what he calls his ‘mini reno’ as a quick and effective way to update the interior.
2022 is set to be all about colour and pattern. Not only Elle Decoration is writing about it but also respected journalist Michelle Ogundein has recently written in Walpole's luxury market report that "people are embracing joyous prints along with heritage, stories and clear provenance more than ever before." And Vogue Magazine has also stated that people will be embracing bold patterns and colour this year.
As we are true believers of embracing a bold and confident aesthetic through the use of pattern we are pleased that well-respected publications celebrate this concept.
The Sunburst drinks cabinet that featured in Elle Decoration does look particularly striking in Matthew’s beautiful London home, which confirms the message that every home needs original pieces of furniture to individualise a space.
Every pattern we work with makes a statement but the Sunburst pattern is certainly one of the most talked about designs in the press, due to its great appeal we are also translating it onto our circular occasional tables, as well as our brand new coffee tables, which are coming soon.
In the meantime, if you would like to discuss any custom requirements or talk in more detail about the patterns in our library, we would be delighted to have a conversation, please do get in touch.
