The Art of Collaboration
As a brand, we thrive on creative conversation and collaboration all formed around our ethos of combining craftsmanship and functionality with creativity.
In the recent conversation for Decorex, our co-founder Laura Allnatt talked to Melissa Byrne from Byrne Communications about the power of design collaboration and how it can bring creativity and innovation together. Laura highlighted the recent collaboration with talented Matthew Williamson, giving insights on how this collaboration came about and how all the stories of inspiration and pattern designs were created.
Laura also mentioned an exciting new hand painted process which was being explored at the time, as another way of translating pattern and texture onto furniture.
Over the past few months exploring a hand painted process has been a joy to develop and we are excited to announce our latest collaboration with talented designer Charlotte Beevor and Graphenstone Paint in the form of a limited edition hand painted Blake sideboard showcasing Charlotte’s abstract, painterly design handwriting.
This piece is crafted in England in celebration of our Norfolk heritage as Charlotte’s grew up in Norfolk, and it’s where Graphenstone Paint is produced. We have called the piece Norfolk Dreaming as it’s been inspired by the beautiful Thetford forest very near to our workshop.
The stunning contrast of different textures and colours on this piece is eye catching and beautiful.
The Norfolk Dreaming piece has been delivered straight from the workshop to Decorex International at Olympia to be showcased on The Design Buzz stand with one of the industry's leaders, Shalini Misra.
We are proud to be working with Graphenstone Paint not only because of their eco-friendly ethos, but also our shared values around craftsmanship and design consideration. Bringing together such a creative team, Norfolk Dreaming is a celebration of the beauty of the Norfolk countryside which we all have a fondness for.
Combining Charlotte’s beautiful brush strokes, the textural quality of Graphenstone’s award winning paints with our solid oak legs and ebony cabinetry, has produced a stunning new edition to our collection of made-to-order furniture pieces.
Each piece is individually created and hand painted, using Charlotte’s painterly signature style. Colours and oak veneers can be changed to work with any desired schemes.
We provide a colour consultation prior to the piece being painted to fine tune the colour palette.
