Matthew Williamson

MATTHEW WILLIAMSON, is an award-winning British designer renowned for his use of kaleidoscopic colour, intricate patterns and designs inspired by nature and travel. A graduate from the prestigious Central Saint Martin’s College, Matthew Williamson showed his critically-acclaimed debut catwalk collection ‘Electric Angels’ in 1997. In recent years, Matthew’s design DNA has translated seamlessly from fashion into interior design, with commissions including the courtyard garden at Blakes Hotel in London, the Bridal suite at Aynhoe Park, Oxfordshire and Suite 67 at Belmond La Residencia in Mallorca.  

We were delighted to create a collection of fine upholstered furniture pieces which showcased Matthew's design handwriting onto beautiful fabrics showcased within cabinetry, screens and tables.

The collection has shown to a global audience in the USA, Europe, Saudi Arabi, UK and a piece is currently on display in the space that Matthew designed at the Design Museum.  

The designs and creative direction of photography is also shown in Matthew's best selling design title ' Living Bright' and shown in numerous high-profile press titles around the world.

“I wanted to work with a new medium to use within my interior design work, so this collaboration with ROOME LONDON was a dream project for me.  I love the brand’s pared back, elegant and practical shapes as they provide the perfect backdrop to showcase my printed designs.”

“Where I get the most inspiration from are places drenched in colour. Whether it’s Bali, India, Brazil, Morocco, it’s the artisanal elements of those places, people making tin lamps or embroidering by hand, that give me the most excitement when thinking about what goes in my own home.”
